The Perfect Body Myth

different-types-of-body-shapes1Set of female body types
We all have different ideas of what a perfect body is but we are heavily influenced in fact choked by societal pressures and the media simply because of the type of ‘bodies’ we see on our screen, on beauty products and magazine, on billboard and above all the kind of ladies who qualify to participate in various beauty pageants. As a result, more harm have been caused than good all in search of that ‘perfect body’.

How often have you seen articles discussing good eating habit or impact of women entrepreneurs in our societies? All we see is how to loose weight, build big breast or build bigger butt meaning the Society today tells us what kind of body image we should strive for. No wonder so many people are worried about projecting the ideal body image by taking pills, teas, butt injections and others going the extreme of cosmetic surgeries to change their bodies.

The reality is, we all come in different shapes and sizes and everyone is  attractive depending how you see yourself. In fact, so many years back, slim ‘flat’ women were considered more attractive and were seen in movies, music videos, TV commercials etc. than very curvy women. That is no longer the case today, all we see around us are women with big breast, small waist and big buttocks meaning the society keeps changing their definition of a ‘perfect body’

A perfect body is a healthy body in its natural state, the body you were created with and comfortable in not the one presented by the media or society. A female fashion model that weighs only 50kg has a body mass index of 17.2 and doctors consider anything under 18.5 underweight. Even though it is unhealthy to be overweight, it is also unhealthy to be underweight. Risks associated with being underweight include anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, osteoporosis, cardiac problems, increased susceptibility to illness and infection and poor wound healing.

Love your body the way it is, live a healthy life, choose the right clothing for it and be who ever you want.

You are perfect just the way you are .………be gorgeous!!!!!

  1. Plus size women can look sexy. Not all plus size women will look good naked or in lingerie just like not all skinny women look good naked or in lingerie. You have to look at the entire person/body and decide what you like. I’m married to a plus size woman and we’re our 60s and I attack her all the time now.

    1. Exactly! We should just feel comfortable in the body we have and work towards our dream body through healthy eating and workouts. I think most of the time men push women to the extreme with the “perfect body” myth

      1. I agree I like sexy 👀 women skinny, etc but I’m finding that my wife can be just as sexy. Is she a size 10 no but she’s fine as she is 1x/2x range, would I like a little smaller YES but we’re happy the way she is today 😊
